The Hair is Always Prettier on the Other Girl’s Head

I want to start by saying that this is no more true than, “The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.”  But like the saying about the grass it is a thought we believe.

I came up with this saying after hearing jealous statements about my “naturally curly” hair.  I have to admit when all the right factors fall into place, I like the curls.  However, it usually takes more work than some think.  My usual weekday morning routine includes brushing my hair into a ponytail – the easiest option.  Some days it is the only option.  Naturally curly hair does NOT guarantee pretty curls.  I do not wake up with pretty hair (I mean seriously?).  It takes effort to make my thick mop presentable.

I believe we have mixed up thinking inside our heads about what grows on the outside of our heads.  So before you think that someone else has better hair (or a better life), remember that the hair is NOT really prettier on the other girls head.  God gave you the hair (life) He knows you should have.  God never makes mistakes.

Torn Like Herbs

I have found an interesting lesson from using herbs.  Many times herbs are chopped or ripped in order to release the flavor.  How true is this in real life?  The sweet flavor of Godly character is developed through trials.  I usually feel torn through those times.

So when you feel the pain of being torn by trials, know that God is preparing something wonderful.

Christ is Worthy

Those of us who grew up going to church have often heard about Jesus Christ being worthy of our worship.  That is very true.  Christ is the perfect Creator of all things.  He deserves our glory and praise.

My concern is that we lose sight of the joy of worshipping Christ.  Too often we get caught up in the difficulties that come with service to Christ (and there are many challenges).  However, there are many joys.  Some come as we serve Jesus.  Some will wait until we stand before Him and begin our eternal time of praising Him face to face.  So in this sunset picture I give Christ the praise for his worthiness and I thank Him for giving me blessings as the result of His worthiness.

God is so good.

God’s Beauty and Grace

God painted a magnificent sunset last night and allowed me to capture several photos.  This is God’s beauty shining above my church building.  My church is Grace Baptist.  I thought of God’s grace shining in our lives as I took the picture.  God gives us beautiful reminders of who He is and what He desires for our lives.

Praise His Name!

I Want More

LORD God (Yahweh Elohim),

I want more of You.  More of who You are.  More of what you offer.  More of You.

Please remove the obstacles to my becoming more like You.  Help me to identify the issues in my life and deal with them as You would have me.  Show me Your path and give me the strength to stay on it and not stray from it.  Send the people who will direct me to You every time I falter (and even when I don’t falter).  Keep me safe as I deal with people who would seek to take me from Your path.  Please help me to love them as You do.

Father LORD God (Abba Yahweh Elohim),

I want more of You.
