Going Too Fast

Is it just me or did you blink and this year disappeared? Some say that the older you get, the faster time seems to go. I concur. As time seems to fly, I find myself dismayed at how quickly the days disappear. I can “lose heart”.

However, as I have turned the pages of my calendar, God has brought to mind the fact that heaven is my ultimate destination. The more I think about the incomprehensible joys of eternity in the presence of God, the more I like the way time flies. I look forward to heaven. The “eternal weight of glory” is “beyond all comparison”.

So as the days speed by, I want to rejoice more that this life is not “it”. There is a beautiful eternity coming sooner than I know.

Dear Heavenly Father, as I see another year come to an end, please help me to look more to what You have for eternity. I find myself losing heart when I need to seek You to renew my inner being. Please strengthen me to face the “light momentary affliction”. I look forward to the the future glory You have prepared.

I pray this in Jesus’ name.

God is so good.

Cannot be Described

I love this verse. Jesus humbled Himself to come to earth to be a sacrifice for us. That gift cannot be fully expressed with words. The best part – those of us who accept this gift will have all eternity to learn the beauty of this gift. I’m glad God allows us to start learning now.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the amazing gift that words cannot express. I am in awe of Your love.

I praise this in Jesus’ name.

God is so good.

Faithfulness

I love the promises in the book of Hebrews. God provides the solid ground we need to persevere. He is faithful and will keep His promises.

Those of us who have read and study the Bible can easily think of many promises. God promised to send a Messiah and Jesus came. Jesus told believers that the Holy Spirit would help them and He dwells within us. There are so many others throughout the Bible.

I hope the reminder of Jesus’ birth at Christmas brings many promises to mind. God’s gifts are the most generous.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the many promises You give. Thank You that we can rely on Your faithfulness. Please help us to remember this when life is difficult.

I pray this in Jesus’ name.

God is so good.

The Greatest Love

I am thankful for the reminder at Christmas of the ultimate expression of love. Jesus humbled Himself to be born as a baby. He knew the reason was to suffer as a man for our sins. His love is incomprehensible. I am so glad.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful gift of Your Son. Please help us to remember this gift throughout the Christmas season and share it with others.

I pray this in Jesus’ name.

God is so good.

Looking to God

Micah 7 does not start out very hopeful. The prophet saw some horrible things. In this verse, he shows his commitment to hope in and wait for God. He knows that God as the object of his hope will not disappoint.

No matter what you are facing today, God will give hope. Go to Him. He waits with open arms.

Dear Heavenly Father, please help us to hope in You. Thank You that You are trustworthy. We need to remember that. I will watch for what You will do.

I pray this in Jesus’ name.

God is so good.
