Favor and Rejoicing

I hope more and more people learn the value of prayer. I have used this verse in my blog post 3 times since last fall. We all need help on a regular basis. I wonder how different life would be if we spent more time in prayer. James 4 tells us a little bit. I want to continue to spend time pleading with God in prayer and learning more about what He will do.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of prayer. Please help us to spend more time humbly seeking Your help. I ask for the grace and mercy that You promise.
I pray this in Jesus’ name.
God is so good.

I enjoy the 4th of July in the United States. I get the day off work, sometimes spending time with friends, and maybe enjoy some fun fireworks. I am thankful to have so much freedom in the country of my birth.
God provides freedom. We are free from the bondage of sin (unless we choose to give in). We have many choices in life that God allows us to make. Unfortunately, we sometimes use our God given freedom selfishly. Our freedom according to this verse is to be used to serve others. Some days that can be difficult. Others are not always fun to serve. However, I have learned that doing what God commands brings intense satisfaction. There is an internal freedom when my selfish wishes are not dictating my life. I’m not saying it is easy, but I know it is worth it.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the freedom You provide. Please help us to use that to serve others.
I pray this in Jesus’ name.
God is so good.

This concept can be a bit of a double edged sword. Sometimes people are too prideful to ask for help. There are times others are too prideful to give help. There are times don’t know what to ask for or what to give. Sounds pretty tough doesn’t it.
This is why I am grateful for prayer. This can help me figure out what help to ask for or give. Praying helps us focus on the neediness of humanity and reminds us of the the glory of God.
So pray about how to live this verse . Helping and being helped is honoring to God.
Dear Heavenly Father, please give us the wisdom to know how to help and be helped. Please guide us as we seek to live this verse.
I pray this in Jesus’ name.
God is so good.

I have yet to hear about someone who is good at waiting. I think this is one of those life-long lessons. Lamentations tells us of God’s goodness to those who wait. While we aren’t good at waiting – we do a lot of it. And God is good to us.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the goodness that awaits those who wait for You. Please help us with the challenges that make it hard to wait. We need You.
I pray this in Jesus’ name.
God is so good.

No one likes a shaky foundation. That is one reason some people don’t like being on boats. It can feel unstable. The Bible tells us how to have a solid foundation in life. We are to hear and act on the words God gave. If we do that we will have stability.
It is easy to say God’s Word gives stability. The reality is that we have to wrestle with the words as we read and study the Bible. Thankfully, God sent believers the Holy Spirit to help.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us the Bible and the Holy Spirit for the sake of a solid foundation. Please help us to put the time and effort into reading and studying Your Word so we can enjoy the stability You provide.
I pray this in Jesus’ name.
God is so good.
